Setup

Prerequisites
Make sure you have the following installed:

Node.js v18 or higher
npm v9 or higher
Git
A Vercel account (free at vercel.com)
A Stripe account (free at stripe.com)

Clone the Repository

cd trenddrop
Install Dependencies
bashnpm install
Configure Environment Variables
Copy the example file and fill in your credentials:

Open .env and add the following:

Google Trends

GOOGLE_TRENDS_PROXY=your_proxy_url (optional but recommended)

Instagram / Meta

Set Up the Database
bashnpm run db:migrate
This applies the schema.sql and creates all required tables.
Run Locally
bashnpm run dev
Open your browser at http://localhost:3000
Deploy to Vercel
Option A — Vercel CLI:
bashnpm install -g vercel

Option B — GitHub:

Push your repo to GitHub
Go to vercel.com → New Project → Import your repo
Add all environment variables from your .env file in the Vercel dashboard
Click Deploy

Set Up Stripe Webhooks

Go to Stripe Dashboard → Developers → Webhooks
Add endpoint: https://your-vercel-url.vercel.app/api/webhooks/stripe
Select these events:

checkout.session.completed
invoice.payment_succeeded
customer.subscription.updated
customer.subscription.deleted

Copy the Webhook Secret into your .env as STRIPE_WEBHOOK_SECRET

Connect Stripe Connect (Affiliate Payouts)

Go to Stripe Dashboard → Connect → Settings
Enable Express accounts
Copy your Client ID into .env as STRIPE_CONNECT_CLIENT_ID

Your TrendDrop instance is now running. Users can sign up, connect their Instagram/TikTok accounts, and start detecting trends automatically.
