Overview
Ember & Salt is a live chatroom for home cooks who care deeply about technique and understanding why recipes work the way they do. Members join focused rooms to discuss real cooking in progress—troubleshooting what went wrong tonight, workshopping recipes together, debating ratios and scaling, and sharing what they actually cooked. No saved recipes, no generic food content: just working cooks talking through the craft in real time, with accounts so conversations have context and continuity.

What we're building
A community site for people who cook seriously: a live chatroom for culinary nerds, about recipes — not a library of them, but the working side of them. What you actually cooked tonight, what went wrong, why it went wrong, and what to change next time. Rooms by what people are trying to do, where members talk in real time, with accounts so messages have authors and people keep a name and a history. Free to join. The room is the website.
This replaces the earlier direction (a small-batch sauce brand sold direct). If the sauces come back later, the room is where our first customers would already be — but nothing is for sale in the MVP.
Who it's for
Not "foodies" in general, and not people looking for another recipe to save. People who cook hard at home and want to know why something works: home fermenters, bread bakers, chilli growers, technique obsessives — the ones who read the method twice and then argue with it.
