Overview
FixMate is an app that makes it easy for people to find trusted local workers for everyday jobs around their home. Users can upload a photo of a problem—such as a broken tap, damaged wall, blocked drain, overgrown lawn, or flat-pack furniture—and FixMate identifies the type of job and connects them with nearby tradies or handymen who can give a price and book the job
Mission
FixMate
What we're building
FixMate is a web app where someone photographs a small household problem — a dripping tap, blocked drain, overgrown lawn, flat-pack furniture — and gets matched with a trusted local tradesperson who can quote and take the job. Customers use it free; tradies pay a small fee on completed jobs.
Current focus — the MVP
A working web app on our own site. Built and live (25 Sep): the landing page, the customer flow (photo, one-line description, category, postcode, preferred timing, contact → confirmation with an FM-XXXX reference), and a tradesperson application form. Every job and tradie is stored in Postgres.
In build now: the ops console we run matching from — every job with its photo and contact details, tradie applications we approve or reject, a status timeline per job (new → matched → quoted → won/lost), and the ability to hand-match a job to a tradie. Next after that: tradie login so they can see open jobs in their area and say they're interested.
Deliberately not in this version: AI photo recognition, in-app payments, automated matching, ratings, public tradie profiles. Those get built once real jobs flow through.
