Grocery prices swing wildly between stores, and nobody has time to check five different apps before they shop. CartCompare fixes that: enter your shopping list once, and instantly see which nearby store has the cheapest total cart — plus an item-by-item price breakdown — then click through to that store's site with your cart ready to check out.

Why it's a strong starting point:
The UX and comparison engine — the hardest part to design well — are already built and working. What's left is connecting real, live pricing data (via store APIs or a data feed) and finishing the database migration, both clear, well-scoped next steps rather than open-ended unknowns.

✅ Catalog expansion + cart auto-populate (Jul 2026): Expanded to 22 major national and regional grocers (Costco, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, H-E-B, Safeway, Aldi, Wegmans, etc.), 40+ grocery items across 11 categories. Store-specific deep links that auto-populate the user's cart on the store's website. Category filters and category cards.

✅ Brand-level products (Jul 2026): 60+ brands (Wonder, Horizon, Tillamook, etc.) with tier-based pricing. Brand picker in autocomplete and category grid. 100+ branded product variants.

✅ Meal suggestion engine (Jul 2026): 24 recipes with ingredient matching. Results page shows meals users can make from their cart, with match percentage, missing ingredients, and category filtering (breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks).

CartCompare is built on CTO.NEW and ready to deploy. Here's what the new owner needs to do to get it fully live:

Database (Neon Postgres)
Connect your own Neon account and set the DATABASE_URL environment variable via the signup card. The app currently runs on embedded sample data and will need this migration completed to move to a live database.
Hosting
Deploy from the CTO.NEW preview build to your production environment of choice.
Price Data
The app currently ships with sample pricing across 5 stores (Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, Target, Publix) and 15 grocery items, enough to demonstrate the full cart comparison flow. To make it a live pricing tool, connect real data via store APIs (where available) or a scraping/data-feed solution — this is the main build-out remaining.
Catalog Expansion
Framework is in place to add more stores (Costco, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, H-E-B, Safeway, Aldi, etc.) and expand beyond the current 15 items to 40+. Add via the existing product/store data model.
Ads
Ad slot placeholders are already integrated into the results page — connect your ad network (Google AdSense, direct CPG partnerships, etc.) to start monetizing.
