Overview
Loaf Ledger is a browser-based tool for home bakers and micro-bakeries to calculate the true cost per item and generate UK-compliant allergen labels. Users build recipes from a library of common baking ingredients (each tagged with the UK's 14 allergens), enter pack sizes and prices once, and get instant batch costs, per-portion costs, and suggested selling prices at target margins. The tool generates printable allergen labels with product name, ingredients by weight, emphasised allergens, and fields for business details and best-before dates. All recipes save locally in the browser—no accounts, no logins, no external dependencies.
Mission
Loaf Ledger
What we're building
Loaf Ledger — a browser tool for home bakers and micro-bakeries that turns one recipe into the two things they currently work out by hand: the true cost per item (and a sensible selling price), and a UK-compliant allergen label ready to print.
The customer: someone baking 20–200 items a week for a market stall, a farm shop or Instagram orders — legally required to label allergens, currently doing the maths in a notebook and the label in Word, and guessing at their margins.
Current focus — the MVP
One working tool, live on our site, usable with no login:
- Build a recipe from a built-in list of ~60 common baking ingredients, each tagged with the UK's 14 allergens, or add your own.
- Enter each ingredient's pack size and pack price once → true batch cost, cost per portion, and a suggested price at a target margin.
