What we're building

A web app for dynasty fantasy football players on Sleeper. Users connect by entering their Sleeper username (read-only, no Sleeper login), the app pulls their leagues and rosters via Sleeper's public API, and gives them tools Sleeper's native app doesn't: a team dashboard, a trade analyzer, and a waiver-wire digest filtered to their roster needs. Player values are dual-source: FantasyCalc dynasty trade values (primary, matched by native Sleeper ID) with Fantasy Football Calculator dynasty ADP as fallback, refreshed daily server-side into Postgres.

Who it's for

Dynasty league players on Sleeper — a dense, data-forward audience ("sports betting app," not "consumer social app") who manage rosters year-round and want faster trade/waiver decisions than Sleeper's native tools give them.

How it makes money

Nothing, by decision (rev 7): owner chose to stay free after reviewing the v1.1 monetization proposal. The plan said monetization would be revisited — it has landed (rev 8), so the question is live again on solid footing. A tip jar (Option C, $5) is approved and queued, blocked only on owner completing Stripe onboarding via the Finance tab.

Setup

Database (Neon Postgres)
The app runs on a persistent Neon Postgres database. You'll need your own Neon account — the seller's database instance should not remain the production data store post-sale.
Steps: create a Neon account → create a new project → copy the pooled connection string (the one with -pooler in the hostname, not the direct connection string) → update the app's database environment variable with your new connection string.
Ask the seller for a data export/dump of the existing tables (users, leagues, rosters, players, trade_evaluations, user_leagues) so you're not starting with an empty database — this preserves any test data and, more importantly, the cached player/ADP crosswalk so you're not waiting on the next scheduled refresh to populate it.
External data sources (no keys required)
Sleeper API: public, read-only, no API key or account needed. Nothing to configure here.
Fantasy Football Calculator (FFC) ADP API: also public and free, no API key needed. Attribution back to FFC is requested in their terms — keep that credit visible somewhere in the app (e.g., a footer note on the trade analyzer) to stay compliant.
Scheduled jobs
Confirm the nightly/30-minute cache-refresh scheduler is running under your deployment, not still pointed at the seller's instance. Check the server logs for scheduler started and tick: ok (fresh) entries to confirm it's live.
No manual intervention needed beyond confirming it's active — the refresh is self-healing against a 24-hour staleness gate.
Payments (if activating monetization)
The app currently runs free-tier only, with a tip jar as the only monetization surface (single Stripe payment link, no subscription infrastructure yet).
To activate: create your own Stripe account, complete finance/business verification, and generate a payment link. If you plan to build out the proposed Workflow Pro subscription tier later, that will require Stripe subscription setup (not just a payment link) plus an email sending service for the digest feature — neither is built yet.
