Overview
Banano is an AI accounting assistant for small business owners and freelancers who want to understand their finances without the jargon. Upload a bank statement (PDF or text) and chat with Banano for 2–3 quick clarifications. You'll get a plain-English profit-and-loss statement, a simple balance sheet, and a friendly "game plan" to guide your money decisions. Everything is privacy-first: parsing happens on your device where possible, and nothing is stored without your consent. Banano is designed as your money buddy—not an accountant—complete with a cartoon monkey mascot and banana-yellow interface.

What we're building
Banano is a friendly AI accounting assistant for small business owners and freelancers who hate financial jargon. Upload a bank statement (PDF) or paste statement text, and Banano parses the transactions, asks 2–3 clarifying questions in a warm chat, then delivers a plain-English P&L, a simple balance sheet, and a friendly "game plan" — a money buddy, not an accountant, wrapped in a cartoon monkey mascot and banana-yellow design.
Current focus — the MVP
The first working version we're building now: a live web app with a simple local login and four sections (Assistant, Dashboard, Budget, Settings), centered on the core Assistant flow:
- Upload a PDF (parsed in-browser) or paste statement text
- Chat with 2–3 clarifying questions, then get a plain-English P&L, a simple balance sheet, and a game plan
- Dashboard and Budget begin as working shells — visual income/spending summaries and budget targets vs. actuals — with Settings for profile and data management
